Hi guys,
I would like to buy Dacia 1310 1,6i.
Could you please provide me with some information?

How is the engine in general when you comapre it to the classical 1,289 ccm Renault Cléon one?
Is this a reliable engine and car in general?

What should I be aware if I am going to buy it?

Thank you for all advices.

Hi,

the engine is derived from the cleon engine but with bigger bore/stroke and a simple single point injection. If maintained it's reliable (I would also risk saying that is more reliable than the 1300 engine). The only thing that can fail it's the catalytic converter because it's mounted too low and it can be easily damaged.

As you know it's a simple car so no major issues are to be expected if it was garage parked and maintained. Rust is the biggest issue, but after year 2000 (and I assume that what you have found is after that year because it's fuel injected) they had some kind of rust protection (cavity wax).

Thank you for your advice and quick response.

It seems though that those 1,6i 1310 are not very common.
I found only 1 currently for sale.

I sent the owner a whtas app message, but he did not respond.

Is there any way one can tell the difference between a 1.4i and a 1.6i at a glance (e.g. into the engine)?

Because most people don't put in the ad what kind of engine it is.

there are no visual differences just the engine code and model name on the trunk lid or on the front fenders depending on year model (Ti for 1.6 and Li for 1.4, if it's a wagon/break then it's CTi and CLi)

The differences between the engines are the crankshaft, pistons, cylinders, head (but 1.4 head will work on 1.6 and will give a little bit more compression) and ECU map. Engine block is identical and replacing those (cylinders are also removable) can easily turn a 1.4 to a 1.6L engine.
